Using AI to develop ideas Key stage 4 - Year 10 & 11

Introduction

Crayion and https://dreamlike.art/create are integral platforms for students at all levels, but specifically for SEND EAL and G&T, serving as aids for idea generation post-initial research and experimentation.

While both use text prompts, dreamlike.art distinguishes itself by enabling students to integrate their photos with AI. These platforms offer benefits such as exploring diverse colour schemes and compositional ideas based on students' concepts and the work of inspired artists.

This activity is suitable for in-class completion or as a home learning assignment.

To create a series of images inspired by investigations and experimentations

Equipment needed:

Students will need access to a computer

Their sketchbooks

Main Activity

1. Ask students to identify and review their most successful artist copies by composing a written analysis detailing how they intend to draw inspiration from each artist. This involves identifying key elements, techniques and concepts utilized by the artists and explaining how they plan to incorporate these influences into their own work.

2. Ask students to create a plan for their final outcome by sketching 2 initial ideas, considering the composition, making note of their subject matter, the mood for their piece and media they wish to explore.

   * Encourage all students to be as detailed as possible in their descriptions incorporating the formal elements of art (Line, Shape, Form, Tone, Texture, Pattern and Colour).

3. Ask students to open either Craiyon.com or Dreamlikeart.com

4. Ask students to create text prompts using keywords from their notes to generate 3-4 images. Copying and pasting images on to a editable document such a Google slides or Word.

   Stretch task: Ask students to upload their own images on to Dreamlikeart.com to combine their own photographs with AI.

5. Ask students to evaluate their images highlighting elements that they could potentially incorporate in their final piece.

Consolidation task

Ask students to create a final sketch based on their exploration.
